October is awesome. It's totally acceptable to eat candy every day and for me to have my skull obsession on full display. It's also the one year anniversary of this blog, but that's a diffrent story for a different post.
I don't know about you, but for me there is nothing cooler than wearing a costume that isn't too costumey, like a normal outfit that can still totally pass as a costume. For those who are too cool to dress up as a 'slutty insert-normal-costume-name-here'.
I'm kicking off this series with one of my favorite spooky-show characters, Violet Harmon from American Horror Story. You all remember Violet, the brooding blonde child of Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott? She wore some pretty fantastic things on the show, which is why it's a shame they never really showed any full body shots of her.
My favorite thing about the first season of American Horror Story -aside from the Tate/Violet romance thing- was Violet's wardrobe. It was like the perfect 'I totally don't care I just threw this fantastically vintage outfit on' look.
Violet normally wears shapeless dresses that could totally have been her grandmother's, but they work on her. All you really need to do for this is go through your fall stuff and pick about 5 things all in a muted color that maaaaybe would go together.
She layers like crazy, so this costume would be good if you're going to be outdoors. Maybe you could be play the roll of the too cool for school passive aggressive sister taking her little siblings trick-or-treating. Just don't start smoking like Violet. That's never cool.
Any suggestions for the next costume post? I have a few lined up but I always love to hear from you!
Have a spooky day.
