As If! A Guide to Cher Horowitz's Wardrobe

One of my favorite classic 'girl' movies is Clueless.
First off, if you haven't seen it, I am seriously judging you. Watch it. Now.
Okay, next.
Clueless, released in 1995, is, fashion-wise, one of the most definitive movies of the 90's. Alicia Silverstone made us all sympathize with the spoiled brat that was Cher Horowitz.

The movie also has some serious man candy. Paul Rudd, for starters. We also can not forget Jeremy Sisto, Breckin Meyer, Donald Faison, and Justin Walker.

The first time I watched this movie I instantly fell head-over-platforms in love with the oh-so clueless Cher and her wardrobe. Seriously, the girl has a dream closet, it has a built in computer. Plus the cast seems super tight still. Do any of you watch "Suburgatory"? Jeremy Sisto, who plays George on the show, played Elton in Clueless. Alicia Silverstone had a multi-episode arc where she played his girlfriend. I had a lot of fun watching that mini reunion. They also still seem to all mourn the loss of the talented Brittany Murphy, who played the new girl Tai.

Here are some of my favorite outfits worn by Cher and how they could be worn today without making you look like you just stepped out of the costume department for the "Clueless" television show that thankfully most have forgotten about.

*Fun Fact: Clueless was originally conceived as a television show.*

For school, Cher goes school-girl chic in tons of plaid and feminine blouses with knee-high socks.

When going out to a party in the Valley or a club with her friends Dionne and Tai (and her soon-to-be-outed 'boyfriend' Christian), Cher normally wears a slinky tank dress and a jacket. Generally one that was super sheer or covered in more feathers than a bald eagle.

*Fun Fact: Clueless is loosely based on Jane Austen's novel Emma*

To me, Clueless is a timless movie for girls -and boys- of any age. Cher Horowitz is the ultimate fashionista that every high school girl strives to be. She can dress, take care of her father, bicker with her ex stepbrother, passionately kiss her ex stepbrother, run a charity, set up two lonely teachers, give the new girl a makeover, and argue her grades up to an A, all in a short skirt.
I guess we all can learn a little something from Cher, maybe she's not so clueless after all.
Which outfit of Cher's is your favorite? Tell me in the comments!
Have a super fabulous day everyone!

  5. Fab post!
As far as I was concerned I was Dione and my bestie was Chear in secondary school rocking my shirts, mini skirts and knee high socks.
Defiantly a timeless movie which still inspires my fashion choices today.
