When I saw Sally Hansen's new Sugar Coat Polish at Target last week, I was a little reluctant to try it out. Than I saw it on sale at CVS later that week so I decided to try it out.
The fact that it was on sale should have tipped me off.
They were advertising this product with another new Sally Hansen product, a nail polish with bits in it that made your nails look fuzzy...? I was convinced that the Sugar Coat collection would be the lesser of two evils.
I bought mine in 'Sweetie', which is a soft yellow.
The colors in the collection are all beautiful and the idea is a good one, but the formula is awful and dry when on the nail. The formula is also very thin. I had to put three to four coats on just to get some color, which just added more of the bits to my nail. My nails feel heavy and like the polish is caked on. You know when you fall asleep with your nail polish still sort of tacky and you wake up with your sheet's knit or weaving pressed on your nails? That's what it feels like. It feels like my nails got messed up. The edges of the nails feel gross and uneven, like I need to file them down. I also feel like the bits are going to fall off, leaving bald spots on the nails. I just did not like the way this polish felt on my nails.
The two good things about the polish in my oponion are the colors and the drying time. I actually had quite a difficult time picking out a color to buy, they were all so pretty. I picked this yellow because I hadn't bought a yellow nailpolish since my Freshman year of highs school, I thought it was time to buy another. We all know and love Sally Hanson's Insta-Dry collection, so it didn't really shock me how fast my nails were dry, but I did appreciate it. I didn't even have to use my beloved drip dry!
I have a feeling it's better as a fun polish for little kids, I could easily see my eight year old cousin wearing this polish. Maybe it's one of those things that I'll grow to like it the more I wear it, but for now I am not impressed. I can only imagine how long it will last before it starts to chip away.
Update: I took the polish off the next day, it was just so gross and I was right about the bits falling off. Good thing this polish is limited edition.
